  • Q.What is Vodafone Money Transfer?
    • A:Vodafone Money Transfer is one of the world’s first mobile remittance services, which will allow customers in Qatar to transfer funds locally and abroad directly from their mobile.
  • Q.Who is the service for?
    • A:The service is available to all customers of Vodafone Qatar, including users of both Freedom and Red.
  • Q.When will the service be available?
    • A:We plan to launch the service by late 2010.
  • Q.Where can I send funds using Vodafone Money Transfer?
    • A:With Vodafone Money Transfer you will be able to send money from your mobile to other mobiles in Vodafone Qatar’s network, bank accounts both in Qatar and abroad, along with other mobile and traditional international remittance destinations.
  • Q.Will I be able to use the funds in my Vodafone Money Transfer account?
    • A:Yes. In addition to being able to transfer your money to other mobiles and to certain bank accounts, you will also be able to use the funds in your Vodafone Money Transfer account to make and receive payments, to purchase mobile content or services from Vodafone, or to make purchases with registered Vodafone Money Transfer merchants.
  • Q.How does Vodafone Money Transfer work?
    • A:When you register for Vodafone Money Transfer, your mobile number will be linked to an electronic money (e-money) account. You can then add money to your account or spend money from your account just as you would with an ordinary bank account.
  • Q.How can I be sure that the service is safe?
    • A:The service requires that you use a PIN number, so even if someone steals your phone they won’t be able to access your money. This means that using the service is as secure, for example, as using a debit card with a chip.
  • Q.How can I be sure that Vodafone won’t keep my money?
    • A:In truth, the money that you will send to your e-money account won’t actually be held by Vodafone. While Vodafone manages your account from a technical perspective, the funds themselves will be held in a separate trust.
  • Q.When will you know more about the service?
    • A:The exact timing and allowable transaction amounts will be subject to decisions by ictQatar and the Qatar Central Bank.
  • Q.Can I transfer credit from my Red, Freedom or Mobile Internet plan to another Vodafone customer?
    • A:When you reload your Red or Freedom plan, you cannot transfer the value to another customer. However you can use the money stored in your Vodafone Money Account to buy a Red plan as a gift for someone else. You can also send Mobile Internet packs to your friends or family whenever they need it, through your mobile phone.

      • Choose Vodafone Money
      • Account
      • Buy RED plans
      • All VFQ products
      • Other number.
      • Select the product you want to send and enter the number of the recipient.
