  • Q.Can I turn Roaming off?
    • A: Yes, you can turn Roaming off before you travel by calling our Customer Care Centre on 800 7111 or 111 from your Vodafone mobile in Qatar or on +974 7700 7111 from overseas.
  • Q.Why can you roam to more countries on Freedom?
    • A: Freedom is the new monthly way to pay for our Flexi plans. Please find a full list of the available Roaming destinations on our Roaming Zones page.
  • Q.When will my calls be charged while I’m roaming?
    • A: On RED, all your calls will automatically be deducted from your balance. You can check your balance at any time by dialling *129#. On Freedom, you have even more flexibility and can roam on over 465 networks around the globe. You’ll be charged in real time on most networks while on other networks there may be a delay. This means it may be a few days before your account reflects the calls you’ve made while roaming.
  • Q.How do I top up while I’m abroad?
    • A: On Freedom, you’ll always be connected anywhere you go. If the month ends, or if you use up your entire Flexi plan, we’ll automatically add another Flexi for you. On RED, be sure to top up before you travel. There are 3 easy ways to recharge before you go:

  • Q.Who do I call to sort out problems while I’m abroad?

  • Q.Why can’t I use data roaming with my iPhone?
    • A:Some iPhone users have found that the APN does not always automatically update. This is the ‘Access Point Name’, which identifies the IP network the device needs to connect to. We’re working with Apple on a permanent solution but in the meantime you can manually reset your APN settings. In your phone menu, select Settings/General/Network/Mobile data network. The APN needs to be web.vodafone.com.qa.
  • Q.Why can’t I connect to all networks that are visible in my phone?
    • A:When you switch on your phone in a new country there may be many visible networks. Since Vodafone Qatar does not have a contract with all networks in all countries, you will only be able to connect to a partner network. If you keep your phone set to automatic network selection your phone will select our partner network when you arrive. You’ll find at least one network in every destination mentioned in our Footprint at www.vodafone.com.qa/roaming/roamingzones. We’re working at increasing this Footprint every day.
  • Q.What should I do if I have trouble connecting to a network?
    • A:If your phone is not connecting automatically to a local network when you switch it on, you’ll need to check its settings are correct. Here are the steps you should take to get up and running.
      • Make sure your network settings are set to Automatic Network Selection.
      • Ensure you are in an area with good network coverage.
      • Allow your device up to five minutes after you turn it on for the first time to perform the network registration.
      • Your device should now automatically connect to the local network.

If after five minutes the device is not showing the name of the network and the coverage signal, you’ll need to use the Vodafone Services Roaming Menu. Here’s how to find it on your mobile:

      DeviceMenu Option
Android basedMenu > SIM toolkit >  Roaming
      BlackBerry®Menu > Setup > Vodafone Services >  Roaming
iPadSettings > Cellular Data > Sim Apps > Roaming
iPhoneSettings > Phone > SIM Application >  Roaming
Motorola (Android based)Menu > SIM toolkit >  Roaming
      Motorola WX180Menu > Services >  Roaming
      Nokia (S40)Menu > Vodafone Services >  Roaming
      Nokia (S60)Menu > Applications > Vodafone Services >  Roaming
Samsung Galaxy SApplications > SIM Toolkit > Roaming
      • Enter this menu, select Roaming and then select OK.
      • Go to Start Roaming 1 and select OK. Your device will switch to its Roaming profile. It may take up to two minutes to perform a Network Location Update.
      • When successfully connected, your device will show the name of the network and your coverage signal.
      • If that doesn’t work try repeating the steps above, selecting Start Roaming 2 instead.
      • If your device still does not connect to a network, please switch it to 2G mode and repeat the steps above. If that’s doesn’t fix the problem, please contact our Customer Care Team on +974 7700 7111.
